Sealing and patching is your first defense against pavement deterioration. Sealing will keep water from entering cracks which weakens the pavement and causes potholes. It will also stop dirt and other debris from getting into open cracks, relieving stresses and extending pavement life. Patching can be used to repair potholes.
Milling or grinding removes a portion of the existing pavement surface providing a texture for improved bonding before applying new asphalt. Using specialized cutting equipment,it provides a surface restored to a specified grade or slope, free of humps, ruts that cause water ponding, washboards, and other imperfections. The depth of the cut is determined by the condition of the existing pavement and the desired finished profile of the roadway after resurfacing.
Curbs and gutters often restrict the final elevation of the roadway. Asphalt milling is a cost-effective alternative to curb reconstruction.
